- Then there’s air flow dropping off. If a unit used to blast a room cool and now it’s barely managing a breeze, it’s probably a clogged filter, a fan motor giving up, or the ductwork’s restricted somewhere. It sounds minor, but a struggling system works harder to do less, and that shows up on your energy bill fast.
- Also watch out for leaks. Water pooling under an indoor unit or a damp patch spreading on the wall nearby isn’t something to leave. It’s often a blocked condensate drain or a refrigerant fault causing the coil to ice over and then melt everywhere once it warms back up. Left too long, that water damages flooring, furniture, ceilings, the lot.
